bvpset

Creates or updates the options structure used by the boundary value problem solvers.

Category: Mathematics > Numerical Integration and Differential Equations

Syntax

options = bvpset('name1', value1, 'name2', value2, ...)

Returns a structure with the given options set.

options = bvpset(oldopts, 'name', value)

Copies oldopts and changes the listed options.

Description

Option names are matched without regard to case. Options not mentioned keep their default behavior, represented as empty fields. Tightening RelTol makes the solver refine the mesh further, at higher cost.

Input arguments

'RelTol'
Relative tolerance of the residual. Default 1e-3.
'AbsTol'
Absolute tolerance, a scalar or one value per component. Default 1e-6.
'Vectorized'
'on' if odefun accepts a vector of x values and returns a matrix.
'Stats'
'on' to print solver statistics.

Output arguments

options
Options structure to pass as the last argument of bvp4c or bvp5c.

Example

Tighter tolerance

opts = bvpset('RelTol', 1e-6, 'AbsTol', 1e-8);
opts.RelTol
opts.AbsTol
Output
ans = 1.0000e-06
ans = 1.0000e-08
