etreeplot

Plots the elimination tree of a sparse matrix.

Category: Mathematics > Sparse Matrices

Syntax

etreeplot(A)

Draws the elimination tree of A as a tree diagram.

Description

etreeplot(A) computes etree(A) and displays the result with treeplot. Each node is a column of A, and the line from a node goes up to its parent. It gives a quick picture of how a factorization is organized.

Input arguments

A
Sparse square matrix; only the nonzero pattern matters.

Example

Tree of a tridiagonal matrix

A = sparse(diag(4*ones(6,1)) + diag(ones(5,1),1) + diag(ones(5,1),-1));
