issimplified

Tests whether a polyshape is free of self-intersections and other defects.

Category: Mathematics > Computational Geometry

Syntax

TF = issimplified(pshape)

true when the polyshape is already in its clean, normalized form.

Description

A polyshape is simplified when its boundaries do not cross themselves or each other, vertices are in the standard orientation (outer boundaries one way, holes the other) and no duplicate or collinear spurious vertices remain. By default, the polyshape constructor simplifies its input, so most polyshapes pass this test.

Input arguments

pshape
A polyshape object.

Output arguments

TF
Scalar logical.

Example

A simple rectangle

P = polyshape([0 4 4 0], [0 0 3 3]);
TF = issimplified(P)
Output
TF = logical
   1
