meshc

Draws a wireframe surface with a contour plot beneath it.

Category: Graphics > 2-D and 3-D Plots

Syntax

meshc(Z)

Plots the mesh of Z with its contour lines drawn on the floor of the plot.

meshc(X, Y, Z)

Uses the coordinates X and Y.

h = meshc(___)

Also returns the handles of the surface and the contour.

Description

The contour projection helps to read where the peaks and valleys are, since the position of a height on a tilted 3-D view is hard to judge. All other properties behave as in mesh.

Input arguments

X, Y, Z
Coordinates and heights, as for mesh.

Output arguments

h
Handles of the two objects created: the mesh and the contour.

Example

Mesh with contour

[X, Y, Z] = peaks(30);
meshc(X, Y, Z)

In the app, the figure is drawn below the code.
