baseUnits
Base units of a system of units.
Category: Symbolic Computations in MATLAB > Units of Measurement
Syntax
b = baseUnits(system)
Returns the base units of the named system.
Description
Every other unit of a system is defined from its base units. The SI has seven: kilogram, second, meter, ampere, candela, mole and kelvin. All other SI units, such as the newton, are derived units; derivedUnits lists them.
Input arguments
system- Name of a unit system, such as
'SI'; seeunitSystems.
Output arguments
b- Row vector of base units.
Example
Base units of the SI
baseUnits('SI')
Output
ans =
[[kg], [s], [m], [A], [cd], [mol], [K]]
Notes
In MatLivre only 'SI' can be queried; the other built-in systems and user-defined systems raise an error.
