.'

Transpose operator without conjugation.

Category: Language Fundamentals > Operators and Elementary Operations

Syntax

B = A.'

Swaps rows and columns of A, leaving complex values as they are. Same as transpose(A).

Description

A.' only rearranges elements. For real arrays it gives the same result as A'; for complex arrays it does not conjugate, which is the right choice when the values are just stored as complex numbers and not treated as vectors in an inner product space.

Arrays with more than two dimensions are an error. Use pagetranspose to transpose each page.

Input arguments

A
2-D array of any type.

Output arguments

B
Array with B(j,i) = A(i,j).

Example

z = [1+2i 3-1i];
z.'
z'
Output
ans = 2×1 complex

   1.0000 + 2.0000i
   3.0000 - 1.0000i
ans = 2×1 complex

   1.0000 - 2.0000i
   3.0000 + 1.0000i
