ver

Displays or returns version information for MATLAB and its products.

Category: Environment and Settings > Platform and License

Syntax

ver

Prints a version report with the installed products.

v = ver

Returns a structure array describing each product.

v = ver(product)

Returns the entry of a single product, such as 'matlab'.

Description

ver is useful when reporting a problem, since the printed report names the platform and every toolbox with its version. Programmatically, use the structure form to compare the version of a given product against a requirement.

The Version field is a text such as '23.2'; verLessThan does the numeric comparison for you.

Input arguments

product
Name of the product or toolbox.

Output arguments

v
Structure with the fields Name, Version, Release and Date.

Example

Version of the base product

v = ver('matlab');
v.Name
v.Version

Output
ans = 'MATLAB'
ans = '23.2'
