acot

Inverse cotangent of each element, with the result in radians.

Category: Mathematics > Elementary Math

Syntax

Y = acot(X)

Returns the inverse cotangent of each element of X.

Description

acot(X) is the angle whose cotangent is X. It is computed as atan(1 ./ X). For real input the result is a real angle with absolute value at most pi/2, and acot(0) is pi/2.

The result decreases as X grows, going to 0 for large positive X.

Input arguments

X
Numeric array of any size. Complex values are allowed.

Output arguments

Y
Array of the same size as X, in radians.

Example

Inverse cotangent

acot([1 2 0 -1])
Output
ans = 1×4

    0.7854    0.4636    1.5708   -0.7854
