acoth

Inverse hyperbolic cotangent of each element.

Category: Mathematics > Elementary Math

Syntax

Y = acoth(X)

Returns the inverse hyperbolic cotangent of each element of X.

Description

acoth(X) equals atanh(1 ./ X). For real X with abs(X) > 1 the result is real. Inside the interval (-1, 1) the result has an imaginary part of pi/2. acoth(1) is Inf.

Input arguments

X
Numeric array of any size.

Output arguments

Y
Array of the same size as X. It is complex where abs(X) < 1.

Example

Inverse hyperbolic cotangent

acoth([2 -3])
acoth(0.5)
Output
ans = 1×2

    0.5493   -0.3466
ans = 0.5493 + 1.5708i
