asin
Inverse sine of each element, with the result in radians.
Category: Mathematics > Elementary Math
Syntax
Y = asin(X)
Returns the inverse sine of each element of X.
Description
For real input in [-1, 1] the result is a real angle in [-pi/2, pi/2] and sin(asin(X)) returns X. For real input outside that interval the result is complex, for example asin(2) is 1.5708 - 1.3170i.
Input arguments
X- Numeric array of any size. Complex values are allowed.
Output arguments
Y- Array of the same size as
X, in radians.
Example
Inverse sine
asin([0 0.5 1 -1])
asin(2)
Output
ans = 1×4
0 0.5236 1.5708 -1.5708
ans = 1.5708 - 1.3170i
