asinh
Inverse hyperbolic sine of each element.
Category: Mathematics > Elementary Math
Syntax
Y = asinh(X)
Returns the inverse hyperbolic sine of each element of X.
Description
asinh(X) satisfies asinh(x) = log(x + sqrt(x^2 + 1)). It is defined and real for every real input, is odd, and grows like a logarithm for large abs(X). sinh(asinh(X)) returns X.
Input arguments
X- Numeric array of any size. Complex values are allowed.
Output arguments
Y- Array of the same size as
X.
Example
Inverse hyperbolic sine
asinh([0 1 -1 10])
Output
ans = 1×4
0 0.8814 -0.8814 2.9982
