thetalim

Gets or sets the angular limits of a polar axes.

Category: Graphics > 2-D and 3-D Plots

Syntax

thetalim([tmin tmax])

Sets the angular range, in degrees.

lims = thetalim

Returns the current limits.

thetalim auto

Restores automatic limits.

Description

By default a polar axes covers the full circle. Restricting the range, for instance to [0 180], shows only a half-plane, which is handy for antenna patterns or any data limited to part of the circle.

Input arguments

[tmin tmax]
Two-element vector in degrees, with tmin less than tmax.

Output arguments

lims
Two-element vector [tmin tmax] in degrees.

Example

Half-circle polar plot

theta = 0:0.1:pi;
polarplot(theta, 1 + 0.1*theta)
thetalim([0 180])
disp(thetalim)
Output
     0   180
